The diet encourages fresh rather than processed food. And reading labels is the key. If there is an ingredient that you have no clue about, then you avoid that food.
Besides fruits and vegetables, the foods should not be over cooked and saturated fats are to be completely avoided. The proteins can be obtained by eating lean meat, fish or whole grains.
All the meals are small and the aim is to prevent the hunger pangs- eat often. The average intake is about 1200 calories/day. Anything less is not recommended as you may not get all the nutrients and essential vitamins.
The diet does make sense but it is not an easy regimen to adhere. Working out on a hungry stomach is painful. The program has a lot of exercises, is relatively easy to follow and understand. The aim ultimately is to eat less and work out more.
For individuals who are quite obese, the intense exercise regimen may not be compatible.
Even though NBC and a lot of diet websites give compliments to this diet, the internet is very scare on honest testimonials. Definitely there are some people who have lost weight on this diet but there are just as many who have dropped out.
For most people this diet requires commitment and persistence. The question is not if you will be able to lose the weight but whether you can maintain the weight loss. Anyone can lose weight for a few weeks or months, but can they prevent the weight gain? if this diet plan worked as great as it sounds, it makes me wonder why they still have lots of ads bragging the success? but no bona fide testimonials!
