Ankle sprain and oxygen therapy

Recently I had an ankle injury and my doctor suggested I go for hyperbaric oxygen therapy. Is this for real?

In the last decade, many doctors have been recommending oxygen therapy for almost every medical disorder under the sun. In fact many doctors now own these machines or have shares in the company that manufactures these devices. Hyperbaric oxygen is only useful for a few disorders like CO poisoning and decompression sickness. Other than these disorders, all hyperbaric oxygenation does is make the doctors rich. It is just another bogus treatment promoted by unscrupulous doctors. If you have an ankle sprain, apply some ice, rest and keep the foot elevated. After few days, start walking, this is free, effective and is without complications. Sometimes it is a real hazard to see doctors in America, especially if you have good insurance.
