I seem to
get a urinary tract infection every few months. Does eating cranberries or
drinking the juice helps prevent these infections?
Overall,
there are some benefits from eating or drinking certain food products such as
fruits. Cranberries have been hyped to prevent UTI for decades. Unfortunately,
studies on cranberry juice have not shown any benefit. In addition, the few
people who did benefit had to drink 2 gallons of cranberry juice everyday. This
is clearly not practical nor is it cheap. You certainly are not going to be
carrying 2 liter bottles of cranberry juice in your purse!!! So far now,
cranberry juice is a great beverage for thirst. As far as its ability to
prevent UTI is concerned, you are out of luck- it is useless.
