Medication for cluster headaches

Is there a medication I can take to prevent cluster headaches?

Sure, there are several medications used to prevent cluster headaches. The most effective appear to be the calcium channel blockers. In some cases, you may need to combine them with either lithium or ergotamine. Verapamil is the calcium channel blocker that is most often prescribed and has good efficacy. I would highly recommend it. It is a relatively cheap drug, requires a prescription and is readily available. Its major adverse effect is constipation, so you better drink lot of water and eats tons of vegetables. In some cases, the feet may swell and this can be prevented by wearing compression stockings.
