Chromium-can it help me lose weight? Part 2

Chromium is often combined with picolinic acid to improve the absorption of chromium.  There are reports that daily consumption of chromium can help one lose weight, reduce appetite and increase metabolism. Distributors of chromium claim that it can melt fat within a few weeks. The manufacturers also claim that anyone wanting to lose weight must add chromium to their diet.

Foods that contain chromium include whole grains, seafood, green beans, broccoli, prunes and potatoes. The majority of sugary foods have low chromium and may even promote chromium loss in the abdomen.

There is no doubt that chromium mimics the actions of insulin but it is not a
replacement of insulin.  Whether it can help one lose weight is still a mystery.

The majority of research today reveals that chromium does not help one lose weight. Infact without a change in diet or exercise, chromium intake will cause an increase in weight.  There is also a suspicion that excess chromium may have adverse effects on the body.
