Tramadol for neuropathy

Is tramadol effective for neuropathic pain?

Yes it is. It is an effective drug as has been demonstrated in several clinical trials. The problem with tramadol is that it is expensive and it has many adverse effects. At least 10% of patients in clinical trials dropped out because of side effects. Common adverse effects of tramadol include sedation, constipation, dry mouth and sometimes seizures. If the drug is working for you, I would use low doses and follow up with a healthcare provider. Unfortunately, many people stop responding to tramadol after long term use.
