Arthroscopy & septic arthritis

Recently I had arthroscopy and later developed septic arthritis. Will this recur again?

One of the complications of arthroscopy is septic arthritis- this means you have pus in your joint. It is a very serious complication which if not promptly recognized and treated can lead to permanent damage to the joint. You must get IV antibiotics ASAP even before the joint is aspirated. If the antibiotics are started promptly then cure can be achieved. If there is any delay in diagnosis or treatment, the joint destruction can be rapid and permanent. There is a risk that septic arthritis can occur because the bacteria often evade the antibiotics and invade the joint again. If you have pain, fever, or swelling of the joint you must be seen immediately to rule out a recurrence. If your doctor delayed the diagnosis or treatment, I highly recommend seeing a medical malpractice lawyer.
