I want to undergo liposuction on my thighs. Is it safe?

Despite what the surgeons claim, liposuction does carry certain risks. There are risks of bleeding, infection and damage to the nerves. While complications are rare, they do occur. Complications are more common among surgeons who are greedy and have poor technical skills. You should beware of surgeons who rush you into surgery. These surgeons usually have no morals and could not give a shit about patients- we have many surgeons like that in North America.

There are no extensive preparations required prior to surgery. Today, there are many techniques of doing liposuction, but the eventual goal is the same- suck out the fat with a hollow tube. Depending on the amount of fat to be removed, the surgery may be done under local or general anesthesia.

Removal of small amounts of fat usually does not take too long but surgery under general anesthesia can take a few hours.

Depending on the surgery, the post operative recovery period may vary. For procedures under local anesthesia, there is fast recovery. For those who undergo general anesthesia, the recovery process can take a few days.

The results of liposuction are not immediate; once the swelling and bruising
subside, the effects of surgery will be obvious. The full cosmetic results are
most noticeable after a few months. The skin will appear firmer and the area will appear flat.

After your liposuction it is important that you enter an exercise program- because if you do not, the fat will quickly come back again. Liposuction on the thigh area will cost you a minimum of $4,000 plus fees for anesthesia and medications. Remember, liposuction is relatively safe but the potential for complications is always present. Never be rushed into any surgery and if in doubt, get a second opinion from another patient. If you have the money, then go for it. If you do not have the money, walk and eat less. You will get the same result without any complications.
