Spinal manipulations for low back pain

Recently I was referred to a chiropractor who suggested that I undergo spinal manipulation for my back pain. Does this work?

No, spinal manipulation is a hogwash therapy which does jack shit for back pain. Do you really believe that by massaging and twisting your joints, that the spine can be aligned back into place? The back is one of the strongest part of the body and except for the neck, no amount of hocus pocus manipulation of the spine is of any benefit. In fact, the back muscles and joints are so rigid and tough, that no one can possibly manipulate them by simply pressing on them.

There is ZERO evidence that spinal manipulations for back pain works. Studies show that spinal manipulation is no better than just touching the back with the finger-this means there is a big placebo effect. The patient feels that just because the chiropractor is making grunting and clicking sounds that everything is now working- in fact you can have someone at home just wear a white coat and touch you with their arse and you will get the same benefit.

The chiropractors are wanna be doctors, but they know that patients are stupid and hence, they offer bogus joint manipulation treatments. Best advice; if you have back pain, lose weight, do some type of exercise and keep away from nonsensical therapies and therapists.
